(30mins) The sandbar trail follows through a reforestation as it winds its way to the riverside. Watch for an old car that has now adjusted along with the tree’s it has grown with. Once at the San Juan River you follow along to where there is nice vista that often offers a chance to spot wildlife. Its very short hike here to the sandbar. Once at the Sandbar you can travel along it to a nice meadow that follows a inflowing stream. For those looking for a shorter hike you can now drive closer to the destination by turning left after you pass the marked trailhead and follow the road to its end.
- Zero your odometer at the beach house.
- Drive the same route as if you were heading back to Victoria.
- At 2.9km, the paved road veers right, and there is dirt roads that lead to the left and straight ahead. Turn Left. This is the Red Creek Mainline.
- At 3.3km you will park and find the trailhead on the left hand side of the road.
